Quebec’s Minister of Immigration, Kathleen Weil, made the pledge on behalf of the provincial government recently at an immigration-related conference.
According to an article about the pledge in the Suburban, Weil said, “Our government is serious about equal rights for both men and women… We share the responsibility to make sure that immigrants, especially women, enjoy every opportunity to lead a full and productive life as they take their place within Quebec’s society.”
A specific initiative calls for the Quebec government to partner with Quebec’s department of Culture and Communications to provide a $180,000 grant over three years to the Table de concertation des organismes au service des personnes réfugiées et immigrants.
