Based on data from the most recent Rent Report by Rentals.ca, the following will list the cheapest and most expensive cities for renters according to the average cost of a one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartment in November 2023.

The five most expensive cities to rent a property in
As expected, all five of the cities on this list are located in larger Canadian provinces such as Ontario (ON) and British Columbia (BC). In fact, 23 of Canada's 25 most expensive rental markets were located in these two provinces (14 in ON and nine in BC). The top five are as follows:

Burnaby, BC

2-bedroom: $3,341
Toronto, ON

The five least expensive cities to rent a property in
On the other hand, Canada's five least expensive cities by average rent were all located in the country's prairie provinces, Saskachewan (SK), Alberta (AB) and Manitoba (MB). Specifically , the five cheapest cities to rent in Canada, according to the latest rent report, were:

Regina, SK
1-bedroom: $1,191

1-bedroom: $1,226
