Federal Express Entry draw sees largest draw size in 2018

Canada's latest Express Entry draw has set a new record draw size for 2018 invitations to apply with 3,750 new invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residence issued at a minimum comprehensive ranking score of 451.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) implemented the 'tie-break' procedure for this latest draw, which means candidates selected from the Express Entry pool who submitted their profile on or after July 21, 2017 at 07:01:28 UTC were issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

As a result, all candidates with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score above 451, as well as those candidates with scores of 451 who submitted their profile before the tie-break date and time, received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the June 13 draw.

To enter the Express Entry pool, interested individuals must first meet the eligibility requirements for one of the three immigration programs managed through the Express Entry system: the Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC), Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC) or Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Once candidates are in the Express Entry pool, they are assigned a CRS score based on factors such as education, work experience, language ability, and other factors. A candidate's CRS score determines his or her ranking in the pool. Candidates who are issued an ITA must submit their application for Canadian permanent residence to IRCC within the 90 days of receiving the invitation.
