The Visa Office at the Canadian Consulate in Detroit has been closed. Its services have now been transferred to the New York City and Los Angeles Visa Offices.

The Detroit office was accepting passports for issuance of permanent resident visas up until February 15, 2013. Passports received after this date will be automatically forwarded to the Case Processing Pilot Office in Ottawa.

According to the Detroit Visa Office, individuals who have received a letter requesting submission of a passport, supporting documents for permanent residence applications, a temporary resident permit or criminal rehabilitation application may send these requested documents to Detroit. These applications will continue to be processed until the early summer. Applications that are not finalized by June 2013 will be transferred to the New York Visa Office, and applicants will be informed of the transfer.
