Canadian population grows to 33,311,389 largely due to immigration

the CanadaVisa Team - 22 July, 2015

As of July 1st, a Statistics Canada report pegs the Canadian population at 33,311,389. The second quarter of 2008 saw the largest population increase since the late 1980’s. This was mainly due to new immigrant arrivals.

Of the second quarter increase of 125,800 people, 91,600 were from another country.

There were increased immigration numbers across all provinces and territories during this time.

Second quarter records were set for Prince Edward Island, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. Immigration is largely responsible for Prince Edward Island’s population increase of 0.60 per cent. Manitoba saw its largest quarterly increase since 1982. Alberta’s population growth rate was the largest in the country at 0.78 per cent, as it welcomed over 27,500 people.
