The Migrations Online Film Festival and Competition - a seven-week event that showcases short films focusing on immigration stories, issues, and insights - has recently begun. It is an initiative of Radio-Canada International and is in its second year of production, following much success last year.
A total of 80 short documentaries and dramas (40 in English and 40 in French) will be showcased in the online festival, from the 200 entries that were submitted from over 22 countries. Among documentary themes are how second generation immigrants can stay connected to their heritages and how immigrants have contributed to their new communities.
"This is a small but important step toward opening a dialogue to explore the experience and reality of many immigrants living in Canada," explained the festival's coordinator, Thierry Harris.
