Human Resources and Social Development Canada (ESDC) will be investing an additional $3.8 million into the Canadian Immigration Integration Project (CIIP) to prolong the successful program until 2010.
CIIP, funded by ESDC's Foreign Credential Recognition Program in collaboration with the Association ofCanadian Community Colleges, helps immigrants prepare for integration into the Canadian labour market while they are still in their country of origin.
First launched in 2007, the project has helped over 2,300 immigrants in China, India, and the Philippines. It was expanded in the fall of 2007 to helpimmigrants in additional regions of China and India. The recent funding infusion brings total project funding to $8.3 million.
