Government expands foreign credential recognition program

the CanadaVisa Team - 18 February, 2010

Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Canada Minister Jason Kenney announced today that the Canadian government is expanding the Canadian Immigration Integration Project (CIIP) by providing more funding for existing services and setting up another office in London, United Kingdom by the fall of 2011.

"We want newcomers to be able to use their skills as soon as possible in Canada. This funding will help them jump-start the credential recognition process before they arrive in Canada. It’s good for them and good for the Canadian economy," Kenney said.

The Canadian government has allocated CAD 50-million over two years to support initiatives that will better integrate immigrants into the Canadian workforce.

The CIIP was a pilot project started in 2007. However, the success of the program has resulted in its expansion since then.
