Labour negotiations at Canada's national postal service, Canada Post, may result in processing delays for Canadian immigration applications mailed within Canada.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada advises individuals planning to travel to Canada of submitting an application (including a passport or other travel document) to apply early.
The 60-day conciliation period between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) ended on September 5, 2018.
CUPW negotiators are working with Canada Post to arrive at an agreement. If one isn't reached by September 26, the union will be in a legal strike position.
