Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted another Express Entry draw today. Here are the results from the department's latest Express Entry draw on June 19, 2024.
In IRCC's first Express Entry draw in nearly three weeks, the department has issued another 1,499 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates. All ITA recipients from today's draw had a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 663.
Express Entry
Express Entry, the name of IRCC's application management system for applications to the following three permanent residence (PR) programs, has issued ITA through three different types of draws since June 2023.
The three economic-class immigration programs handled under Express Entry are:
- The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
- The Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
- The Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
IRCC's three draw types are:
- General
- Program-specific
- Category-based
The difference between these draw types will be detailed below.
General and Program-specific Express Entry Draws
These two draw types, which prioritize immigration candidates based on their CRS scores*, have been part of IRCC's Express Entry system since the inception of Express Entry back in 2015.
*CRS scores are the values that IRCC assigns to eligible Express Entry candidates based on human capital factors, including age, education, and work experience (among others).
The following briefly describes the steps involved with the Express Entry process for general and program-specific draws:
- Candidates must confirm that they are eligible for at least one Express Entry-managed program (see list above)
- Eligible candidates create an online profile with IRCC, during which time candidates receive their CRS scores
- Wait for IRCC to conduct its next Express Entry draw*
*This is when a candidate will know whether they will receive an ITA.
Note: To receive an ITA during any given draw, candidates must have a CRS score above the department's cut-off for that round of invitations. It is also worth noting that ITAs are the only way an Express Entry candidate can submit an electronic Application for Permanent Residence (eAPR) to IRCC.

Category-Based Express Entry Draws
Category-based draws, which were first conducted in June 2023, were introduced as a way for IRCC to attract Canadian immigration candidates with specific types of work experience and proficiencies.
The targeted categories were chosen by the department based on what the government deemed to be Canada's most "in-demand" attributes.
In 2024, IRCC has chosen to focus on candidates with the following work experience and proficiencies:
- Healthcare work experience
- Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) work experience
- Trades industry work experience
- Transport industry work experience
- Agriculture and Agri-Food industry work experience
- Strong French language proficiency (defined as a minimum score of 7 in all 4 language abilities* on the Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens" (NCLC))
*The four assessed language abilities are reading, speaking, writing and listening
