About Express Entry
Express Entry is Canada’s main method for bringing international skilled workers to this country through permanent residence.
One common misconception about Express Entry, however, is that this title denotes the name of a Canadian immigration program itself. In fact, Express Entry is simply the name given to the online system used to cumulatively manage skilled worker applications from three different programs — the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).
In order to apply for permanent residence through Express Entry, candidates must first determine their eligibility for any of the three programs under this system. After determining their eligibility, qualified applicants will need to submit a profile with IRCC on their website and check their CRS score.
A candidate's CRS score will determine whether they then receive an invitation to apply (ITA), which is the key to becoming a permanent resident in Canada.
Applicants who receive an ITA from IRCC will have 60 days from the date of receipt to complete and submit their electronic application for permanent residence (eAPR) in Canada.
