Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted their most recent Express Entry draw on April 12, 2023. Here are the results.
In today's Express Entry draw, IRCC issued 3,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to Canadian permanent residence applicants in another all-program draw. This marks IRCC's fourth consecutive all-program draw (since March 15) following a stretch of four straight program-specific draws from February 1 to March 1.
Note: Canada's four straight program-specific draws included three draws for Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates and one exclusively for Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) candidates.
IRCC's most recent draw saw the immigration department consider candidates in all three Express Entry programs with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 486. This CRS cut-off score is up five points from IRCC's last all-program draw on March 29 (minimum CRS score of 481).
Immigration candidates who are still in the Express Entry pool after today's draw can expect another round of invitations in around two weeks.
About Express Entry
Express Entry is the application management system that Canada's federal government uses to cumulatively manage immigration applications from the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the FSWP, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).
These programs, through the Express Entry system, allow Canada to invite foreign skilled workers from around the world to this country by offering them permanent residence (PR).
In order to be selected during an Express Entry draw, interested candidates must first verify their eligibility for the CEC, the FSWP or the FSTP. After this step, interested immigration candidates can go online to create an account with IRCC and submit an electronic profile through IRCC's website. Simultaneously, all candidates who create an Express Entry profile can also review their CRS score.
At this time, everyone in the Express Entry pool must wait for IRCC to issue their next round of invitations (otherwise known as conducting an Express Entry draw). These draws will invite candidates in the pool - with a high-enough CRS score (above the cut-off CRS score for that particular draw) - to apply for permanent resident status in Canada. PR applications can only be submitted after receipt of an ITA, meaning that ITAs are the "key" to Canadian PR via Express Entry.
Note: ITA recipients have exactly 60 days (from the day they receive an ITA) to submit their electronic Application for Permanent Residence (eAPR) to IRCC online.
