The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) issued more than 188 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence to candidates in the Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration categories.

In order for candidates to be selected through the Express Entry BC Category, they must have a valid profile in the federal Express Entry pool.

Express Entry is Canada’s main pathway for skilled immigrants who want to obtain Canadian permanent residence.

Those nominated through the Express Entry BC provincial nominee program will be effectively guaranteed an invitation to apply for permanent residence in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw as they get an automatic 600 points added to their score when they receive their nomination.

The Skills Immigration Category is for skilled and semi-skilled workers whose occupations are in high demand in the province. Both categories require candidates to register using B.C.’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS), which provides eligible candidates with a score based on factors such as their offer of employment, location in B.C., education, language ability and wage.

Each week, B.C. holds new draws under its PNP and invites candidates from several streams and sub-categories. The most recent BC PNP draws were held on April 5 and invitations were distributed as follows:

Currently, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) only invites Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates in Express Entry invitation rounds. All other program draws have been paused due to existing delays in the inventory of applications. All-program draws are expected to begin again later this year, but so far no official date has been set by IRCC.
