The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program issued 494 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination to candidates in its Express Entry, Skills Immigration, and Entrepreneur Immigration streams in invitation rounds held October 31.
The Express Entry invitations were issued to candidates in the Express Entry BC Skilled Workers and Express Entry BC International Graduates categories.
The Express Entry BC stream is for candidates with active profiles in Canada's Express Entry system. Express Entry manages the profiles of candidates in Canada's three main federal economic immigration categories: the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class.
If Express Entry candidates are issued a provincial nomination, they will be awarded an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, which effectively guarantees an Invitation to Apply for Canadian permanent residence in a future federal draw.
Those candidates invited under the BC PNP Skills Immigration Stream in this latest round will have their applications for Canadian permanent residence processed by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada outside of the Express Entry system once a provincial nomination is issued.
All candidates invited under the Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration must have an indeterminate, full-time job offer from an employer in the province.
Individuals interested in applying for immigration to Canada under the Skills Immigration and Express Entry streams must first create an online profile using the BC PNP's online system and submit a complete registration form. Candidate profiles are assessed and assigned a score based on various factors, such as education, work experience and other factors.
Another 35 invitations were issued to candidates who meet the eligibility criteria for the Entrepreneur Immigration stream. Among other criteria, BC PNP Entrepreneur Immigration candidates must:
- have a personal net worth of at least CAD $600,000;
- demonstrate business and/or management experience; and
- have, or be eligible for, legal immigration status in Canada.
