British Columbia’s Provincial Nominee Program's Tech Pilot issued 57 Skills Immigration and Express Entry B.C. invitations to apply for a provincial nomination in a new Tech Pilot draw held June 25.

The Tech Pilot was introduced by the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) in 2017 to address labour needs in B.C.’s tech and innovation industries.

It is designed to help the province recruit and retain foreign talent in 29 in-demand occupations in the technology sector.

The initiative features weekly invitations, accelerated processing times as well as BC PNP sessions and events specifically focused on the technology sector.

Applicants under the BC PNP Tech Pilot are required to have a one-year, full-time valid job offer. The job offer must have at least 120 days remaining at the time of application to the BC PNP.

The 57 invitations issued on June 25 were distributed over the Skilled Worker and International Graduate categories of the BC PNP’s Skills Immigration and Express Entry British Columbia (EEBC) streams.

This was the sixth consecutive Tech Pilot draw with a minimum score of 90 in each of the four categories targeted.

Scores are based on information provided by candidates when registering with the BC PNP, which is the first required step for most Skills Immigration and Express Entry categories.

The Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) is a points-based system that evaluates candidates based on factors like education, work experience and proficiency in English or French.
