The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program has invited 34 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination through its weekly Tech Pilot draw, which took place on May 9.
The invitations were issued to eligible British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) candidates who have a valid job offer in one of the Tech Pilot program's 32 key technology occupations.
The Tech Pilot program was created in 2017 to help support British Columbia's technology sector needs by attracting foreign tech workers to the province.
Candidates invited under the BC's Express Entry- ed streams, such as the Express Entry BC: Skilled Worker and Express Entry BC: International Graduate may receive 600 additional points under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) if their application for provincial nomination is approved.
For candidates invited in the Skills Immigration Skilled Worker and International Graduate categories, applications for permanent residence are processed outside the Express Entry system after they receive a successful nomination from BC.
For individuals interested in immigrating to Canada through the BC PNP, it is important to begin the process by creating an online profile with the BC PNP and complete all sections of the registration form.
Once a profile is assessed, applicants receive a score based on civil status, education, work experience, and other factors. They are then entered into BC PNP selection pool.
BC PNP candidates must have an indeterminate, full-time job offer from an employer in the province to become eligible for the majority of Canadian immigration categories managed by the BC PNP.
The minimum scores for each category involved in the May 9 draw were as follows:
Date | Category | Minimum Score Required | Number of ITAs Issued |
---|---|---|---|
May 9, 2018 | EEBC – Skilled Worker | 91 | 34 |
EEBC – International Graduate | 91 | ||
SI - Skilled Worker | 86 | ||
SI – International Graduate | 91 |
It is important to note that an invitation to apply to the BC PNP is not the same as a federal government Invitation to Apply or ITA.
