The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) issued invitations to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence to candidates in the Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration categories.
In order for candidates to be selected through the Express Entry BC Category, candidates must have a valid profile in the federal Express Entry pool.
Express Entry is Canada’s main pathway for skilled immigrants who want to obtain Canadian permanent residence.
Those nominated through the Express Entry BC provincial nominee program will be effectively guaranteed an invitation to apply for permanent residence in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw as they get an automatic 600 points added to their score when they receive their nomination.
The Skills Immigration Category is for skilled and semi-skilled workers whose occupations are in high demand in the province. Both categories require candidates to register using B.C.’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS), which provides eligible candidates with a score based on factors such as their offer of employment, location in B.C., education, language ability and wage.
Each week, B.C. holds new draws under its PNP and invites candidates from several streams and sub-categories. The most recent BC PNP draws were held on July 12 and invitations were distributed as follows:

On July 6, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) resumed Express Entry draws for all programs. For many months, only Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates were being invited in Express Entry draws due to the backlog of applications caused by the pandemic. The return to normal for Express Entry draws is a very positive development for Canadian immigration. Immigration Minister Sean Fraser has also indicated that IRCC is once again able to process new Express Entry applications within the standard six-month timeframe.
