British Columbia issued its first invitations of the year to immigration candidates on January 7.
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) issued 173 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence to candidates in the Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration categories.
In order for candidates to be selected through the Express Entry BC Category, they must have a valid profile in the federal Express Entry pool.
Express Entry is Canada’s main pathway for skilled immigrants who want to obtain Canadian permanent residence.
Those nominated through the Express Entry BC provincial nominee program will be effectively guaranteed an invitation to apply for permanent residence in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw.
The Skills Immigration Category is for skilled and semi-skilled workers whose occupations are in high demand in the province. Both categories require candidates to register using B.C.’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS), which provides eligible candidates with a score based on factors such as their offer of employment, location in B.C., education, language ability and wage.
The minimum score requirements were between 85 and 105 in the latest selection round.
Use the CanadaVisa Skills Immigration Registration System Calculator to determine your potential score under the BC PNP Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).
