Effective August 27, 2015, the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) will not be accepting new applications until January 27, 2016. The AINP is Alberta’s Provincial Nominee Program for Canadian immigration.
“We are pausing application intake for AINP because it is oversubscribed, with approximately 10,000 applications awaiting assessment and hundreds more being submitted each month,” said AINP Managing Director, Brad Trefan.
“It is clear the demand for AINP far exceeds the 5,500 nomination certificates allotted by the federal government in 2015. A pause on application intake gives AINP the additional time it needs to reduce wait times for applicants who have already submitted applications and are waiting on a decision. This pause will also provide an opportunity to make improvements to the program."
This temporary pause will help the AINP assess existing applications in the queue and prevent the queue from growing further. For the meantime, the province has encouraged individuals interested in immigrating to Alberta through the federal Express Entry system.
Applications postmarked after August 27, 2015 will be returned. Complete AINP applications postmarked on or before August 27, 2015 will be accepted for processing.
