Alberta announces changes to its popular H1B fast-track immigration category

the CanadaVisa Team - 17 July, 2015

As of today, the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) has removed certain occupations from its list of qualifying occupations for the popular U.S. Visa Holder category. Eight Information Technology (IT) occupations are no longer listed as "occupations under pressure" in Alberta. Applicants with work experience in these occupations are no longer qualified for the program.

The U.S. Visa Holder category of the AINP has been an extremely popular option for fast-track Canadian immigration since it was introduced last year. The greatest appeal of the category is that U.S. H1B Visa holders are not required to have a job offer to qualify, provided that they have work experience in an occupation that is in high demand in Alberta.

Alberta is constantly revising its list of qualifying occupations based on changing labour market needs in the province. Further changes may be introduced without notice.

At present, the AINP continues to accept applications from U.S. H1B holders with work experience in the occupations on the new revised list.

Applicants who qualify under the current occupation list and encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible, to avoid being subject to new government regulations. Find out if you qualify.
