Services are being enhanced at the Canadian immigration visa office in Beirut, Lebanon. Effective immediately, Permanent Resident applicants who are required to attend an interview have the option to do so in Beirut. Previously, these applicants were required to travel to Damascus, Syria for their interviews (applications from Lebanon are processed at the Damascus visa office).
Before now, the only exception to this requirement was for family class applicants, who had the choice between having an interview in Beirut and Damascus. In cases where applicants requested their interviews in Beirut, immigration officers used to travel from Damascus.
Now, all immigration applicants in Lebanon have the choice of having their interview in Damascus or Beirut.
“We are upgrading our services at the visa office in Beirut in order to make it easier for people to complete their application process,” stated Citizenship and Immigration Minister Diane Finley.
