minimum $ 10000 for single/not married
According to CIC website, it is 1 year tuition fee plus 10,000 for study permit. I can't find any exact amount for extension. Maybe for extension its just 10,000 because its 10,000 according to University of British Columbia website as well.
According to UBC website
"Minimum $10,000 CAD, plus an additional $4,000 for a spouse/partner, and/or $3,000 for each additional family member (e.g. a child). Proof may include a combination of: a current official letter from your bank showing your account balances; a letter stating a scholarship, teaching/research assistantship, or student loans; a letter of financial support from a sponsor (such as a parent or friend) AND a current official letter from their bank; etc. If you cannot prove the minimum amount you can still submit an application, but it will affect the length of your extension".

Is it okay if we show some funds in student's account (Maybe 6,000) and rest with a Affidavit of support in our sponsor's bank account?
I know it looks okay based on the information found on this and some other websites. However, many people told me that account should be on student's name.
