Hello everyone,

I completed my Ph.D. in Canada and am now working as a post-doctoral fellow here in Montreal. I am applying for PR, and I have 4 years of experience as a paid Research Assistant during my Ph.D. (which lies under 41201 - Post-secondary teaching and research assistants). I have my IELTS score 2 weeks ago and got band 8. I also have a job offer, and my CRS score shows 513 points.

However, when I opened the file and submitted my information, it showed you are not eligible in any category.

Can you please guide or help in this regard, as to what may be wrong in this situation? Thank you very much in advance.

You have to post how you are answering questions. Are you counting your experience during your PhD as foreign experience? How are you counting points for a job offer? Do you have an approved LMIA or LMIA exemption? For LMIA exemption you need one year of Canadian experience, not during your studies to count the 50 points.

How much are you showing for proof of funds? You don't qualify under CEC and need to be a FSW candidate. So you need to make sure you're showing proof of funds.

My Ph.D. is in Canada, and I think work experience during my Ph.D. is not a foreign experience. My job offer is from the university, and I am on a post-graduate work permit. I don't know how to check if I have LMIA APPROVED, but my experience is as a research assistant during my Ph.D. But I read on this forum from many cases that research assistant is considered work experience.

The PGWP is an open work permit. This means you won't qualify for the 50 job offer points.

Your work experience during your study permit counts as foreign work experience.

See here for the rules around work experience gained while you were on a study permit in Canada: https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=394&top=29

If you are on a PGWP, then you answer NO to job offer. It is not LMIA approved. Your experience during your studies is foreign. If that is your only work experience, it needs to be one year, continuous and full time in one NOC.

I showed 40000 CAD in funds. Thank you.

That's more than enough assuming you are a single applicant. So that is not the issue.

Another question... Have you listed 41201 as your primary NOC? Is your work experience in this NOC continuous (meaning without breaks)?

Your work experience during your study permit counts as foreign work experience.
Even in that case, I should be eligible for FSWP. I don't know what may be wrong.

In the application profile details, I put 41200 as my primary NOC which is my current job status, and NOC 41201 as my work experience NOC.

Your primary NOC is where you have at least one year of continuous, full-time experience in one NOC. If you don’t then not eligible with that NOC. You say NO to job offer.

Ok noted. Thank you. Then I am making a mistake here. I should put NOC 41201 as my primary NOC. Can I make another application using the same cgkey or should I create new one? Because I don't know whether it is ok or not.
