Hi everyone. I'm looking here for help as CIC seem to be useless at taking inquiries. A little background info: I'm 19, from Hong Kong.

I applied for a study permit/student visa with an off-campus work permit over summer from Hong Kong, and it was accepted.

The online application had asked me how long I intended to stay in Canada, and it let me choose 'under 6 months' or 'over 6 months'.

I have discovered that the length of my visa is only 9 months with NO work permit, while everyone else' is at least a year long and correct to say the least. With this study permit, I am unable to qualify for many things such as a student credit card or a job, which really messes up my stay in Canada. Is it possible that CIC made a mistake? If so, what can I do? It seems impossible to reach them and I am not willing to wait next year to reapply if it is a mistake on their part.

You'll need to provide more information - you've given us extremely little to go on.

How long are your studies? When are you studies scheduled to start? Or have you started already? What school are you attending?

If you started your studies in September, are you aware that you must complete six months of full time studies in Canada before you can qualify for an off campus work permit? If you started your studies this past September, you don't qualify for an off campus work permit yet.

When does your passport expire?
