Hi everyone.

The way my mother's name is spelled in her passport is different than how it was spelled in my passport.

I am a PR holder now. However when I was making my PR application, in the family information I provided the spelling than that was in my passport.
It is not a major difference, just a difference of - ee - instead of an - i -. For example in my passport it is spelled as Darleen and in her passport it is spelled as Darlin.
My mother is now in the process of applying for her supervisa, and she would have to use the spelling in her passport. So if IRCC checks they would see that there was a difference in my spelling of my mother's name in my PR application compared to her name on her supervisa application. I actually called IRCC about this matter, and the representative on the phone told me that it is fine and I do not need to do anything about it. Since my mother's name is not on my PR documents, the spelling I used does not matter anymore in regards to my PR, I just need to put a LOE in my mother's supervisa application explaining the difference in name.

Even though the IRCC agent stated there is nothing that I need to do in this situation, I still want to ask if you guys know if there is something I should do in this case in regards to my PR?

Sorry if this seems like a silly question. Any response is appreciated, thank you.

If you could, get an affidavit stating both the names belonging to the same person along with a simple LOE. Don't stress over it too much. Additionally, IRCC is aware there might be different spellings of the same name due to regional dialects!

Thanks a lot for your response.

Did you mean a LOE for her supervisa apllication?
