There is no exact definition of a good parent however, increasing numbers of people are advocating the idea that schools should be coaching youngsters to become a good parent. Personally I think it’s an excellent idea. This essay will analyze why it should be taught to be good parents and which skills are required for that.
A good parent strives to do the best for their children but you can only do that when you have reached that kind of maturity yourself. Due to the rapid advancement of technology most teenagers feel completely independent and do not react well to parental advice. Most schools have sex education courses, what more should be part of this course is the education about being a responsible parent. Being sexually active and raising a child are two different things. Students should be made to realize that raising a child is a job of utmost responsibility and requires a lot of patience. And only right kind of education will enable these pupils to grow into mature adults who can raise better families.
Another reason why this course must be part of schools now is the rapid decay of our society. Our country has witnessed sad incidents where mentally disturbed pupil has caused harm to fellow classmates. This can be avoided by teaching students the value of close bond between a parent and a child. School going children must be taught to realize that sharing their thoughts with their parent can relief them of their burden and a loving parent must be there to listen to what a child has to tell. This will also bring families closer. Teaching how to be a good parent will help students comprehend the magnitude of this role and may help avoid early pregnancies.
