I'm currently facing a big problem from the High Commission of Canada in Singapore. The current situation I'm facing may be waiting for the Visa for the High Commission of Canada. It has been 2 months since I've applied for the VISA and last week i've just completed my medical check up. The High Commission of Canada asked me to wait for another week or two, but worst comes to worst it may take longer. Also if there's a problem with the medical check up, they may ask me to redo the medical check up which I find very difficult this is because UBC starts on the 4th of September and if I redo the medical check up, I may end up receiving the VISA around September. As a Taiwanese, I do not require the VISA to stick on my passport but instead I would only require a letter to show that I have the Student permit. The idea I propose right now may work but i'm unsure if University of British Columbia would allow such case. As a Taiwanese, My VISA is waived for 6 months in Canada and if I don't get the VISA in time, I would like to ask if I'm able to attend class first and when the VISA is complete, my mother would send the letter through DHL and so it will not interfere with my studies whatsoever.

Do you guys think this will be legal? To enter in to Canada, While studying, and wait for the student permit to arrive. What I saw in other people's case is that, a course less than 6 months will not require any study permit but if he wishes to further study his courses he would apply for the visa while he studies in Canada.

Please help me out guys.

You do not need a TRV but a study permit and you won't get it at the Port of Entry without that letter.

1. You can not enroll in a course longer than 6 months without a Study permit. So you have to wait for your Letter of Introduction.

2. Why do you think you will be asked for a re-medical?

Yes - a course/program that's less than six months doesn't require a study visa.

However you've enrolled in a program that is longer than six months. You need a study visa and you can't study on a visit visa. I'd highly recommend that you follow the rules so that you don't create problems for yourself that will limit your options for remaining in or returning to Canada.
