Hi Guys,

I would like to have some advice for my plan to move to Canada from US. I am a recent graduate from a reputed US university with MS degree in Electrical Engineering. I am not US citizen or green card holder, just an international student. I have been employed by a well-known tech company.

For some familial reason, I have to move to Canada. However, I don't have citizenship or PR of Canada. Therefore, I have planned to enroll at one of the University there and take MS degree again so that after graduation I can start my career there. But It would have been better if I could start full-time job even I entered with a study permit. What can I do in this situation? I am kind of blind about rules and regulation in Canada. Please provide your valuable suggestion.

P.S. FYI, My sister has Canadian citizenship and she is sponsoring my parents currently.

Thanks.

You cannot work full time as a student - you can work a maximum of 20 hours a week off campus once you start school full time.

If you want to work full time now, you will first have to find an employer in Canada who is willing to offer you a full time job offer and that employer will need to obtain an approved LMIA. Once you have a job offer and approved LMIA - you will quality to apply for a closed work permit tied to that specific employer. It tends to be very difficult to find employers willing to go through this process.

The fact you have a Canadian citizen sister doesn't give you any special privileges.
