Would it be possible if I studied in Canada with ADD ?

Hello,

I'm studying in Canada on study permit.
I have difficulty fulfilling my studies like writing essays, debates.
Basically I can't think clearly because of my ADD (without hyperactivity and impulsivity).
Still got straight A's in some fields several times.
I heard that someone who suffers ADHD got deported.
So I was wondering if I could see any therapist while studying in Canada or any problems with ADD like deportation.

Thanks,

I agree. Visit your university's wellness centre. They usually have very good resources.

If you are unable to complete your studies and fulfill the conditions of your study permit, then you will be eventually asked to leave Canada. If you are told to leave but don't leave, then eventually this will turn into a deportation order.

Yet to decide
It would surely amount to discrimination if someone is deported just because of a medical condition. And, I'm sure the Canadian authorities will never do that. Unless - I'm guessing here - there are enough indications that someone with a temporary visa is likely to become a burden on the Canadian health care system.

In any case, this is just a layperson's opinion. I would suggest you call up and speak to someone over at CIC about this. I wish you well and hope that you make it through your higher studies.

He won't be deported because of his medical condition. But he can certainly be asked to leave Canada if he does not meet the terms of his study permit (i.e. does not complete his diploma / degree or is kicked out of his program by his school).

No point calling CIC - they'll simply say that he needs to stay in school full time. OP needs to be speaking with his school to find out how he can successfully complete his course work with their support.

Talk to disability services at your campus. There may be available tools and support for you to manage you classes.

I'm in a really demanding program and have part time students with downs in my program. They have assistants.
