Would I qualify as a charitable worker?

Hi! Decided to ask this here as it has been impossible to get through to CIC recently..

I am here on a PGWP. Depending on how things work out I may try to apply for another work permit as a charitable worker. I am currently a resident support worker working overnights at a homeless shelter. In this role I do informal counselling, crisis and suicide intervention and other social service work, along with some office administration duties. My work is unable to supply me with a LMIA because its a non-profit organization, as I'm sure I would find with almost most social service organizations - they simply don't have the resources.

Does anyone think I would be eligible for a LMIA-exempt work permit under the International Mobility Program: Canadian interests – charitable or religious work? I have referred to the website and it's not entirely clear whether I would. Looking to you guys until the CIC lines are clearer. Thanks!

You're not doing religious work - so it won't qualify as such.

In order to possibly qualify under charitable - the work would have to be unpaid and should be full time hours. Are you currently working full time or close to full time hours and is your work unpaid?

I am full time. It states work of a charitable OR religious nature

This part indicated I could be paid a wage.

"A charitable worker is usually taking a full-time position in an activity that meets the definition of ”work” in that it is a competitive activity or wages are paid"

Oh hang on, I think this was just added

"persons who are giving their time to community or religious organizations in a position which would not represent a real employment opportunity for Canadians or permanent residents. (Such work would entail a requirement to be part of, or share the beliefs of, the particular religious community in which they are working.)"

Knew it was too good to be true.
