Hello!
For quick context, I'm a US citizen and have been dating my (now) fiance, who is Canadian, for about 2 years now. We've been friends for almost 5 years now and used to communicate online. I originally came here to satisfy the requirements for common-law status (cohabitation for 12 months) as that was the original plan so that we can start a life together and that was what I told border control but recently, he proposed, so I am unsure of what to put for family member in my extension request?
Basically, we haven't lived together long enough to qualify for common-law but we will be getting married soon so would I put him as "other" for family member? I am just confused as to if I can even count him as a family member at the current moment? IRCC asks "How are you related to your family member?" and obviously there is no "partner/fiance" option but there is "other" so would that be allowed? I just want to make sure that I am not messing it up as that is not what we are trying to do. If he does not count as "other" for a family member, please let me know.
Thanks!
