Hello,

I have a questions regarding the working holiday visa.

I currently live in Japan and have a Japanese citizen, I have saved up money to go to Canada for a year.

I have already applied for the working holiday visa and I just received the confirmation letter that I was accepted.

My questions is would it be possible to come to Canada as a visitor status first for few months to travel within Canada then change my status from visitor pass to working holiday visa?

And what would be the steps to change my status from visitor to working holiday visa?.

I'm guessing he wants to maximize the time he's allowed to work by using visitor visa for either job hunting or travelling.

What is Working Holiday Visa? Is it for Canada?

Rajaji.
I am planning to move to Toronto and look for a job there but before I look for one. I wanted to travel to Quebec and other places.
That is correct I just want to extend my stay in Canada.

I have seen other posts on the website asking if they can extend their stay after their working holiday visa expired. Changing their status from Working visa to visitor visa.

I am wondering if you could do the opposite. Changing your status from Visitor visa to Working Holiday visa.

A working holiday visa is a visa to stay in Canada for up to one year. Working holiday visa holders are allowed to work part time while staying in Canada.

You will have to exit the country and re-enter to activate your working holiday visa.

I have reading through other forum and I see that people are using the term flagpoling.

Will this be consider as flagpoling?

Hi, I have almost the same issue. I am currently in possesion of a working holiday Visa, however i am not planning to use it until 2013 or maybe ends of 2012. I have also a tourist visa since i am a citizen from a country that requires it. I have to go to Canada for academic/holiday reasons for a few days in June. But iḿ not going to stay there, i'll be just visiting for about a week. Can I use only a tourist visa for this entry? How do i explain this to the immigration officer ?, i don't want to activate my working holiday visa till january 2013, since i have things to finish in my country. If i enter this june, can i enter just on a visitor's visa or i will necessarily activate the working holiday??? is There a regulation or law where this issue is clarified?. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!!
