Working Right After You Land

Hello,

I'm curious as too if you can start working/applying/be eligible for a job right after you land and become a PR? I was thinking I couldn't apply for work until I have my official PR card.

You can work right after you land. Technically you need a SIN number (which you can get right on the spot at any Service Canada office) but some places will even let you work if you tell them that you haven't gotten one yet but plan on getting one soon. I came to Canada the day before my first day at my new job. I went to work the next day and told them I'll go get my SIN number later in the week. HR said it is fine, just update them with the number when I get it. Honestly you can get a SIN number so quickly and easily that there is no excuse to delay getting one. My wife actually got hers at the airport 5 minutes after she landed.

Just go to the closest Service Canada centre and bring your passport and signed copy of your COPR
