Working remotely whilst in Canada

Is there anyone else out there working remotely? I am looking to apply through express entry on the federal skilled workers program and will continue to work remotely from Vancouver for a British company. Does this count as having a job offer in Canada?

Most of my company (based in the UK) work remotely. Makes it a little confusing filling out the forms as my company address is in the UK but my office address is here in Vancouver.

No - this certainly doesn't count as having a job offer in Canada. For something to count as a job offer in Canada, you need to have a full time and permanent job offer from an employer physically located in Canada and your employer must also have obtained an approved LMIA. It won't be possible to obtain an LMIA for the job you have described since the job and employer aren't actually in Canada.

So you need to answer "no" to all questions related to having a job offer in Canada.

is your office a registered business in Canada? do you and your company pay taxes in Canada?

the OP works for a UK company, is likely paid by a UK company so pays UK taxes so even if this UK company had a registered office in Canada the OP is still working for the UK company so does not even count as Canadian work experience if that was the chosen route .OP doesnt say what current status is in Canada so assumed non resident for tax purposes.

If it were this easy thousands of people working remotely for multi nationals that happen to be registered in Canada as well would be applying on this basis even those on temporary inter company transfers who still remain on home country payroll and that is the key home country payroll, not physically employed by a Canadian company.

Ultimately the OP needs a job offer from a Canadian based company and once PR they could work remotely for any company based anywhere. Simply does not work planting self in Canada accessing UK system remotely , being paid by UK and implying have a job in Canada.

You assumed. that's all - I asked.
that's the key criteria "tax" if she pays taxes in Canada, so she is a resident, whether or not her company can arrange for LMIA based offer is another story

point taken, forums are full of assumptions given people rarely post the full story but ultimately the OP cannot consider working remotely for a UK company as a Canadian job offer to qualify for PR.
