Dear all,

I Have submitted my online application for a working permit about 2.5 month ago. As a Danish citizen I have submitted my online application to the high commission in London. According to the CIC homepage processing times for working permit applications to the embassy in London is 2 months.

2 weeks after submission I received the message in MYCIC that my application is approved, and not additional documents are needed. Moreover it states that I should wait for more information on CIC. Now, about two months later, I have not received any additional info at MYCIC.

This is very frustrating since my employer in Canada is really waiting for me to come and start the research.

My employer recently got the perception I need to submit my passport to the Canadian embassy. I doubt this is correct since it does not appear to be the case according to MYCIC. Moreover I have no instructions on how and where to ship my passport.

Could it be that since my working permit application is approved I can already now travel to Canada and start working without bringing any additional documents than my passport?

Alternatively:
Could any of you please confirm that my working permit is on the way (via email or other means of shipment) and that I do not need to supply any additional documentation?

Are there any other ways to get information about the application process than standard MYCIC and the question form in MYCIC where answering time is up to 28 days?

Any info in regards to additional expected waiting time would be more than welcome!

All the best,

Rasmus H. Jørgensen

If you are from Visa exempt country CHC do not ask your passport for visa stamp. Check the message section under application received, there should be an introduction letter you need to take a print out and carry with you to Canada. The CBSA officer will ask you for that letter and they will issue you your work permit at port of entry. Or if you are from country that require Canadian visa to travel then you should email the CHC London and ask them.

Dear alijumani and others,

Thanks for your quick response. It is good to know that I don't need to submit my passport.

I just re-checked my MYCIC profile. There is no letter except for the one confirming the receival of my application.

And this leads to the core of my question: Why have I not received any additional messages when my application was approved and closed about two months ago?

It would be really nice if someone could come up with an explanation.

How long was it from this message that you received your letter?
I'm in the same situation - will be working in research, waiting 2 months later my application has been approved and my closest embassy is London.

Hi Niallllll,

Its now a while ago, and i hardly remember anything except that it was painfull process. I checked in my mailbox. And it seems like i received my final approval 3 days after my last message in this forum. It is very likely that i posted questions in MYCIC parallel to this, but i do not remember.

I got the following message:

"Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your enquiry.

Due to glitches in our system some correspondence does not automatically send to an applicant. This is an ongoing problem which we are aware of. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Please find attached a copy of the letter. We thank you for your patience.

I hope you are already past this problem. Good luck in Canada!
