Hello, I have lived in Canada since July 2015, on the Working Holiday Visa (Australian). I cannot re-apply for a second holiday visa based on the rules I applied under, so I need to look at PR. I have looked at Express Entry however

1. I have not worked full time for 1 or 2 years in Canada. 2. I have not worked as a skilled worker. 3. I have worked as a skilled worker for 18 months in the last 10 years. 4. I have a Bachelors degree but do not have paid experience in my field, only unpaid.

Essentially I don't believe I am 'skilled' under the questions, and don't know how/which option to proceed. How likely is it to be selected for applying when I don't have a high 'skilled' score?

Thank you for any information!

To be eligible under the CEC program, you would need at least one year of full-time skilled work experience (or the equivalent in part-time work). However, the FSW and FST programs do not require this.

2. I have not worked as a skilled worker. Canadian?
3. I have worked as a skilled worker for 18 months in the last 10 years. Foreign?

Um, confusing, which is it? : ) For the FSW program, you need a minimum of 1 year of full-time continuous skilled foreign work experience in the past 10 years. It sounds like you might meet that.

4. I have a Bachelors degree but do not have paid experience in my field, only unpaid.
Work experience does not have to be directly related to the degree, except in cases of "regulated" occupations (licensed occupations like nurse, doctor...).

You are a "skilled worker" if you have 1 year of work experience in a skilled NOC - you would have to determine what your occupation code is first.

"Skilled" is an NOC-level O, A, or B -

The "eligibility" tool is crude, but you can use it to see if you qualify. Note that if you would be eligible under the FSW program, you would need to have IELTS test results and an Educational Credentials Assessment performed before you could even submit your profile.

However, even if you qualify, that does not mean you will have enough "points" to earn an invitation. If you can find an employer offering a job in a skilled occupation who is willing to apply for an LMIA, that is one way to stay and work longer, and boost your eligibility. Another way is to look into the provincial programs.
