Working for a foreign embassy

Hi,

Will the number of days a permenant resident works for a foreign embassy be counted towards citizenship?

Are you working for Canadian embassy? Even so it only counts toward residency requirement not citizenship. Except Military service and some rare conditions (not specified) nothing else will be included in no of days towards citizenship

Days working for the Canadian Embassy or any Canadian Employer abroad only counts towards PR RO. It however does not count towards citizenship qualifications since the requirement is that you are physical presence INSIDE Canada.

UPDATED:

Days employed outside Canada by CANADIAN GOVERNMENT (Canadian Forces, Canadian Embassy, including Provincial government, etc etc) counts towards citizenship.

However working for a Canadian employer like Magna International outside Canada does not count towards citizenship.

Actually if you are employed by the Canadian embassy, your days outside Canada can count towards citizenship qualification as per outside Canada exemptions.

You can count time spent outside Canada toward the physical presence requirement for citizenship if you:
•Were a permanent resident employed in or with the Canadian Armed Forces, federal public administration, or public service of a province or territory; or
•Resided outside Canada with your: ◦Canadian spouse or common-law partner, or permanent resident spouse, common-law partner, or parent
who was employed in or with the Canadian Armed Forces, federal public administration, or public service of a province or territory.

So Canadian Embassy is federal public administration so your days can count. You would have to complete formCIT0177 to claim outside Canada towards citizenship.

Days working for Canadian Embassy does count towards citizenship. Even PR spouses of Canadian/PR employed can count towards citizenship. However spouses of PR/Canadian cannot claim days towards citizenship if they don't have PR status themselves despite spouse working for Canadian government.

I think the OP did meant Canadian Embassy in a foreign country as this thread deals with Canadian citizenship.
Wouldn't make any sense to ask about citizenship qualification for a foreign embassy other than Canada.

The way you wrote it, implied "Even so" that working for Canadian Embassy only counts towards PR RO, which is incorrect. You still stand corrected but didn't come out right, grammar wise.

BTW: I wasnt trying to be critical of your grammar. There was nothing wrong with your grammar. Its just the way you wrote your sentence. When you wrote "Even so" after asking about working for canadian embassy, implied this:

Are you working for the canadian embassy? Even if you are working for Canadian embassy....."

I understand where you are coming from. I too type on my phone was well. It can be a drag / hassle.
