screech339 said:Days working for the Canadian Embassy or any Canadian Employer abroad only counts towards PR RO. It however does not count towards citizenship qualifications since the requirement is that you are physical presence INSIDE Canada.
Actually if you are employed by the Canadian embassy, your days outside Canada can count towards citizenship qualification as per outside Canada exemptions.cecapplied said:I am no expert, possibly one needs to be consulted, however, an embassy is equivalent to the soil of that country in a foreign country
Days working for Canadian Embassy does count towards citizenship. Even PR spouses of Canadian/PR employed can count towards citizenship. However spouses of PR/Canadian cannot claim days towards citizenship if they don't have PR status themselves despite spouse working for Canadian government.chikloo said:Are you working for Canadian embassy? Even so it only counts toward residency requirement not citizenship. Except Military service and some rare conditions (not specified) nothing else will be included in no of days towards citizenship
I Stand corrected. Apology for incorrect information. I think OP may not be talking about Canadian embassy in foreign.screech339 said:Actually if you are employed by the Canadian embassy, your days outside Canada can count towards citizenship qualification as per outside Canada exemptions.
You can count time spent outside Canada toward the physical presence requirement for citizenship if you:
•Were a permanent resident employed in or with the Canadian Armed Forces, federal public administration, or public service of a province or territory; or
•Resided outside Canada with your: ◦Canadian spouse or common-law partner, or permanent resident spouse, common-law partner, or parent
who was employed in or with the Canadian Armed Forces, federal public administration, or public service of a province or territory.
So Canadian Embassy is federal public administration so your days can count. You would have to complete formCIT0177 to claim outside Canada towards citizenship.
I updated my previous post correctly.
I think the OP did meant Canadian Embassy in a foreign country as this thread deals with Canadian citizenship.chikloo said:I Stand corrected. Apology for incorrect information. I think OP may not be talking about Canadian embassy in foreign.
The way you wrote it, implied "Even so" that working for Canadian Embassy only counts towards PR RO, which is incorrect. You still stand corrected but didn't come out right, grammar wise.chikloo said:Are you working for Canadian embassy? Even so it only counts toward residency requirement not citizenship. That is why I said I stand corrected. Thanks for a grammar lesson. I feel educated.screech339 said:The way you wrote it, implied "Even so" that working for Canadian Embassy only counts towards PR RO, which is incorrect. You still stand corrected but didn't come out right, grammar wise.
If we are talking grammar. You have incorrect grammar in your above post. It is just " I think the OP meant". "did" is grammatically incorrect. Sorry to point out, but in forum you don't look at grammar. Most times I'm posting from my phone.screech339 said:I think the OP did meant Canadian Embassy in a foreign country as this thread deals with Canadian citizenship.
Wouldn't make any sense to ask about citizenship qualification for a foreign embassy other than Canada.
BTW: I wasnt trying to be critical of your grammar. There was nothing wrong with your grammar. Its just the way you wrote your sentence. When you wrote "Even so" after asking about working for canadian embassy, implied this:chikloo said:If we are talking grammar. You have incorrect grammar in your above post. If I can communicate my message appropriately then I have done my part.
