Hy,

My dad was on 2 work permit for 4 years. Then he married and he can legally stay in Canada, and after one year he got work permit. He got PR status after one more year, in October last year. How long he should wait until he is able to apply for citizenship? Two years as permanent resident, or he can do it now because of 5 years as worker?

Thanks

No - he can't apply now.

As of right now, he would have to wait four years from the time he becomes a PR (assuming he doesn't leave Canada).

If the new citizenship rules pass, he will be able to apply two years from the time he becomes a PR (assuming he doesn't leave Canada).
