Hello guys,

I found out from some online searching that international students who are waiting for post graduate work permit can still work at a company that they got a new job for with an off-campus work permit. Is this true?

I also found out that since june 2014, students don't need to apply for off-campus work permit, and the new study permit will determine that or something. Like if I study full-time, etc. My study permit says I can work on/off campus, as long as i meet eligibility criteria as per R186(F), (V)OR(W). What every that means..I'm studying full time chemical engineering at a reputable university. So I think I'm eligible. Am I correct?

So..with those two in mind, what do I have to do in order to work right after graduation in April this year, and while waiting for the PGWP? Am I all set with my study permit?

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

As long as you complied with resolution r186(V) and providing that you have already applied for a PGWP, you can continue working until a decision on your PGWP is made.

please note that once you receive a notification from your school that you've met all requirements (final transcript or confirmation of graduation letter) you can only work AFTER you applied for PGWP, so I suggest you apply as soon as you get the official document from your school

Thank you! That makes sense. I'm not sure if the university will give out confirmation of graduation letter in April (after completing the studies) or June (after the graduation ceremony). I will have to check with the school. I hope it's the former so that I don't have to wait till I work..
