My situation is that in 2013 I came to Canada with a student visa, graduated from university with a BFA in 2016, and have been here with a post-grad work visa since then. This visa expires in July. For the past 6 months I have been employed as an assistant to a custom shoe maker (a position for which I am currently training a new person). I didn't seem to have any pathways through my employment to extend my work visa. I have quit my job and will be heading back to the U.S. a week before my work visa expires to take an intensive course for a couple weeks. I have some money to support myself without working, and would like to return to Canada after the course to explore the province I've lived in for the past 6 years and spend time with loved ones. That is my reason for wanting to come back into the country as a visitor. I didn't think it would be a problem, but am just feeling a bit concerned now that my application was refused.
Do you think that leaving the country for a couple weeks and trying to reenter with supporting documents (ie. a plane ticket I have from Vancouver to the U.S. in October, a bank statement showing sufficient funds to support myself without working, and a letter of termination from my most recent employer) would help my case at the border? When I submitted the online application I did not include the plane ticket out of the country or the letter from my previous employer.
