Hi,

My company is in the process of applying a work visa for me. I have an 8 month old who I want to take with me. For obvious reasons, I will not be able to look after her while in office. For this reason, I would like my mom to accompany me.
Can I apply for her(mom's) visa as dependent or as a visitor? what all documents are necessary?
or should I just drop the whole plan as somewhere on the site it is mentioned that parents cannot accompany and will have to be sponsored once I am in Canada.
Leaving my daughter behind for even a week is not an option.

What type of visa ? You need to be more specific, a temporary work visa, a Perm resident visa ? Sponsorship likely not an option as there are minimum residency terms and extreme as may sound regular babysitting on a visitors visa could be interpreted as work assuming even a visitors visa were issued for an extended time..

It will be a temporary work visa not a permanent residency.
Your mother is not classified as a dependent and cannot be included as your dependent in any way. All she can do is apply for a visitor visa which would allow her to visit anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. Of course there's no guarantee the visitor visa will be approved and it certainly won't allow her to live in Canada for the duration of your work permit. Expect that you will be without her for most of your stay in Canada.

I will be in canada for around 6 months only. So, was hoping that she will be able to stay for the duration.
Can I file her visitor visa along with my work permit or should I wait till my WP is approved?

The challenge for a visitor visa will be purpose of visit, funds to support visit and ties to home country to return at end of visit. If you do not yet have your permit yet that is also a challenge as what would be put on the visitor visa unless can document a tourist itinerary ? Also no guarantee a visitor visa will be issued for 6 months duration and in fact many people who ask for 6 months are denied.
