Hi Guys,
I applied for an OWP extension for my wife on Sep 16th, 2014 from Toronto. The online tracking system still shows the application status as open and no decision reached. The CIC is currently processing applications submitted on Oct 4th . Upon calling, I was told that the application is in NY for some reason and the processing time in NY is 5 months. We wanted to travel outside Canada for the holiday season but without renewing the TRV that seems impossible now. My wife's current OWP expires on Nov 30, 2014. I am confused and was wondering if you guys can help me? Here are my concerns:
1. I am thinking of applying a fresh application, assuming there was some error (either from CIC or me) in the first application which made it go to NY and this time that error does not happen. Please let me know what you think of this idea. I think this will be a faster way rather than having to wait 5 months.
2. Is there a way to know what exactly happened with the first application? Why did it end up in NY , we are Indian citizens?
3. Can my wife get implied status till we hear from the CIC? I heard that may be not cause they are considering the application as it was applied from outside Canada and to get implied status the application needs to be submitted from inside Canada.
I would really appreciate your help. Thanks much.
