Work VISA after 'Young Professional' VISA

Hello everyone,

I'm currently working in Canada with a 1 year 'Young Professional' VISA which is going to expire by the end of November 2015. Since my Permanent Residency is still being processed (submitted May 2014) I would need to have a new work VISA lined up in case the Permanent Residency application takes longer than the end of November.
Would I be able to apply online via myCIC since I my employer has to apply for a LMIA? If not, what forms would I and my employer need to fill out?

I would be happy to explain my situation in more detail.

Thank you in advance.

Flo

Before you can apply for a work permit your employer will firs need to obtain an approved LMIA. To start this process, your employer will have to advertise your job for at least a month to prove that no Canadian could be found for the role. Your employer will then need to fill out and submit the LMIA paperwork. More details are available here:

Thank you.
I have found 2 forms to be filled out from my employer. 'ESDC EMP5593' and 'ESDC EMP5517'
Which one of them do I have to fill out?

Hi

As you have an inland spousal PR app submitted, you can apply for an Open Work Permit. This does not require an LMIA. Current processing times are around 4 months, so apply ASAP and you may get it before your current work permit expires.

Hi,

I followed that link and once I choose from which country I'm applying it starts listing forms like 'application for work permit made outside of canada'. Should I just blindly use the forms CIC listed or are there other application forms I need to fill out instead.
Also, it is stated that I should indicate that I'm applying for an Open work permit:

Applicants who have already submitted an application for permanent residence under the SCLPC class but have not yet applied for an open work permit should complete a work permit application, include the appropriate fee, indicating that they are applying for an open work permit, and submit it to the Case Processing Centre in Vegreville, at the following address:

Anybody can shed some light?

Thank you.

Send the IMM5710, the fee receipt for $255 and a letter explaining that you have an inland sponsorship app processing.

Hi,
I'm sorry to ask so many questions but I'm a bit confused and I want to make sure I submit the right documents.

Is that IMM 5710 an easier way to apply for an Open work permit or are the forms in the first link you send me just wrong?
I guess you mean I have to submit the whole package, including the checklist since I don't need the 'common in law' form (I'm married) and have no representative? I understand the fee $100 for open work permit and $155 for work permit processing. But I'm just confused since your first link indicates that 1-year pilot program but does not mention the IMM 5710 at all?

I'm originally from Germany and have currently a 1-year IEC Young Professional VISA, have submitted the Spousal PR, and submitting the IMM5710 still applies to me?

Hope these are not too many questions :)

Thank you.

I guess I'm going the IMM5710 route with an explaining letter that my PR is in process.

But since it is an Extension application but in the form I can choose Open work permit, what am I doing with the LMIA and employer sections? Should I just leave it blank or put in the information of my current employer?

Thank you.

Understand that all of these forms and processes are generic, meant to fit a whole bunch of different situations. It is up to each person to find out what specifically applies to them.

Send the IMM5710, the fee payment and the explanation letter for the OWP.

Leave them blank.

You have to mail it in.

Hi guys,

I'm about to send the application off.

One quick question: which checkbox should I check when I apply for an open work permit?
'a work permit with the same employer' or 'an initial work permit or a work permit with a new employer'? Or would that not matter since I select further below the open work permit option?

Thank you.
