I noticed that on the check list, CIC requested a very particular reference letter. In my previous job, I received the standard reference letters, however they did not included my job responsibilities but only the work period and job title. If I hand in along with my pay slip and job contract, will that be ok too?
With my current job, I have a job contract, will that be sufficient?
CIC
NEEDS some sort of assurance that the experience you currently have or have had in the past matches the
Duties and Responsibilities of the NOC you choose to immigrate in. Therefore - a letter of reference outlining your Duties is of utmost importance.
Having said that - there are other ways of going about (although not as effective as the LOR itself).
The following is the route that applicants generally take (for a given company) depending on which condition is met:
- Letter of Reference/Experience with Duties and Responsibilities
from the HR or the Designated Supervisor on a Company Letterhead OR
- Letter of Reference/Experience with Duties and Responsibilities on
an Affidavit by a Senior/Supervisor with the supporting documents including Employment Contract, Appraisal, Pay Stubs etc
OR
- Letter of Reference/Experience with Duties and Responsibilities on
an Affidavit by a Colleague with the supporting documents including Employment Contract, Appraisal, Pay Stubs etc
OR
- Letter of Reference/Experience with Duties and Responsibilities on
a Self Sworn Affidavit with the supporting documents including Employment Contract, Appraisal, Pay Stubs etc
Note - The lower the option you have to settle for, the weaker your case is going to get when CIC evaluates your application.
