hi, my husband is on work permit to Canada and am on visitors visa . we are separated and not yet divorced. how can I get a work permit here? would appreciate if someone help me with this.

Do spouse's of work permit holders also get an open work permit too?

Some do, they have to qualify - namely their job has to be in NOC codes 0, A, or B. The spouse must submit proof of the work permit and NOC code to get their own work permit.

OP, it completely depends if your husband is willing to help you. If he won't, you'll have to find an employer willing to give a LMO (Labour Market Opinion) to get a work permit.

But if her original visitor permit was issued on the basis of her relationship with her husband and her being an accompanying dependant of a work permit holder, if they seperate and she lets CIC know, they will cancel her visitor permit as her status would be void.

Anyways, i guess it depends on if her husband will help her or not.
