Hello all,
I am a grad student in the US (non US citizen/not a US permanent resident). I will soon be a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the UofT.
I am planning a visit to my future lab in Toronto sometime next month. I will likely need a visitor's visa for my visit, plus a work permit for when I actually begin working. The paperwork for my work permit application is currently underway. U of T knows what they're doing in this regard.
Meanwhile, I have a few questions about visa applications:
1. Two different visa apps: I know that by definition the work permit for an international worker is a bundled visitor+worker application.
2. Border crossing: I am planning to drive into Toronto with my belongings. Are there ever any issues with entering Canada by road on a work permit? Please bear in mind that I am a non-US citizen/non permanent resident.
Any input from someone up to date with the rules will be highly appreciated. Thank you.
