work permit process time

Hi,

I am an Indian citizen, I have got a job in Vancouver, Canada. My new employer is sponsoring my visa and work permit. Yesterday I got my work permit application submission confirmation letter, I wanted to know how long it will take to process my application?

On the cic website, it says 4 months for indian citizen. Does that mean 4 months from now?

It is 4 months as per cic official page. But as of now, the trend seems to be around 45days. I think, you will not go wrong, if you are prepared for 60 days.

Thanks for the reply. Is there any way I can track my application status? Do I have to create myCIC account for that and link my application no. to that account?

Also, I want to know whats next? what about visa application? How and when that is processed?

sorry If I am coming up with lots of basic questions..it just that this whole process looks little confusing to me.

I am assuming your employer is issued a positive LMIA from Service Canada.
In that case, you have to submit work permit package in nearby VFS office. This is a paper based submission and generally processing time is faster. Other way you can apply is through online. This way, it is more time taking compared to paper submissions. But you get an advantage of tracking your application in CIC website.

I would recommend you submit paper based application.
