Was hoping I was done with this blog for a while, but it is not the case
, hope a good soul can give me a piece of advice over here.
I applied in March 18 2015 to PR within Canada through common law and open work permit (both together to Case Processing Centre in Mississauga), I just received my open work permit, but CIC only gave me 10 months (until April 2016), meaning I would have to apply again to a new permit as I wait for my PR process to be done(estimated time March 2017).
I think the issue has to do with my now old passport, which expired on April 2016. I mentioned to them in a letter I was going to renew my passport in April as I traveled to my country and so I did. The day I came back to Canada (Apr 28 2015) I immediately mailed a copy of my new passport to CIC as soon as I got off the plane. I received a confirmation email few days later saying they successfully received it.
So... I have talked to my lawyer and he recommended me to contact them asap, and send an application again hoping they issue me a new permit as they should have used my new passports dates, not my old's. We will try that, and if not, I will have to do the whole thing again in a few months. I just think it's very unfortunate they did this, I guess it depends on the person working on your application. It is a lot of hassle and I would have to renew my working permit, my OHIP, and visa within a few months... almost feels they are trying to milk money out of you.
My question here is, is there any way to make them open my envelope faster? Can I write URGENT in the envelope I will send? Is there anything I could do?
Also, any recomendation if I should send this to Vegreville or the Case Processing Centre at Mississauga (where I originally sent everything) ?
