Work Permit is Expiring

Hi All

My work permit is expiring September. I'm applying for Outland Family Sponsorship via the Sydney office.
It's going to be a close call... but I'm worried because my employer told me they would have to terminate me after September. I was under the impression I could just do leave without pay.
If they had the option of leave without pay they would consider doing that but they advised legally they would need to terminate.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Kiiiind of. My husband was here in Canada with me and was terminated about a month before his OWP expired and he could not renew it. We got a visitor visa and applied outland while he was still in Canada with me on the valid visitor visa instead.

But if you apply before your OWP expires and it's received, etc, I believe you would have implied status that way. We weren't going to be submitting before his OWP expired, so we got the visitor visa.

Yeah my company is having to terminate me when my iec runs out but theyre hiring a temp so they can rehire me when the OWP comes through

Yeah I'm on IEC
Oh no that's not good!!!! I hope they will consider rehiring me
