Hello everyone

How can my husband get a work permit in canada he cant exstend stay but can he still apply for a working permit next year i will be sponsoring him can he still apply for working permit or pr if so

Ok my writing not good but i can explain over phone in person better but i went to a lawyer and they said he cant exstend his stay because he hasnt exstened in over 6 months to a h year so i was wondering since he cant exstend can he still apply for his working permit he is inside of canada for 2 years now and im gonna be sponsoring him next year hope this helps what im trying to say

No - he cannot apply for a work permit at this time.

When you sponsor him next year, you should use the inland sponsorship method and include an open work permit application with the sponsorship application. If he had valid status in Canada, he would get the open work permit four months after you apply. However since he is out of status in Canada, he cannot get this benefit early and will likely have to wait 8-10 months before he has a work permit. You should apply to sponsor him as soon as you can.
